During this difficult time, we continue to stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. To that end, as of April 2022 we have paused accepting new contributors from Russia and Belarus, and we are no longer conducting business with new customers in both regions. We will continue to work with existing contributors and partners.
Since residency can be verified only during account creation, we must close newly created accounts after they have been established. If you are a resident of Russia or Belarus and have opened an account after April 2022, your account will be automatically closed shortly after creation. Please do not upload content to your account, as it will be removed from publication once the account is terminated.
Yes, we will continue working with our established artists from Russia and Belarus.
We have been working closely with our financial and compliance partners to ensure that we are able to compensate our existing artists who reside in these regions. Normally Shutterstock offers payments via PayPal, Skrill or Payoneer, however some of these providers have ceased regional operations due to sanctions or other restrictions. For contributors based in the Russian Federation, the only option for receiving payments from Shutterstock is via an existing Skrill account. For contributors based in Belarus, existing Skrill and Payoneer accounts are eligible to receive payments at this time. Please note that these options are available only to those contributors with existing accounts, as both Skrill and Payoneer are not accepting new accounts in Russia and Belarus.
If your accrued earnings are under $1, then yes you can close your account. If your accrued earnings are over $1 we are obligated to keep your account open until we have a feasible method for issuing a payment. If you want to remove your portfolio from our site in the meantime, you can opt out of licensing your content in your account settings.
